Why Do You Bring That Fucking Camera on Every Night Out?

I’ve always been into photography but only over the past couple of years have I taken to the pursuit of quality images. I adore street photographers and I often find myself on the streets trying my hand at capturing small stories and brief glimpses of individual personalities when I can. Whilst being in my home town in Manchester it’s difficult to spot the unusual, a guy walking around topless with a pair of rabbits is considered normal out here so I rarely get inspired on the streets.

I do however find inspiration when surrounded by drunk people having had a tipple myself. Much like wildlife photography, the best images come about when the subject is unaware. Drunk people are, generally speaking, unaware. When they realise you’re taking photos of them, half the time they assume that you were waiting for them to pose and the other half of the time they don’t give a shit. I’m playing a dangerous game getting wasted with an expensive piece of kit, but I carry my camera so often that it’s become an extension of my right hand and I’m fully aware if it’s not attached.

The below images were taken on Christmas eve at my local alternative bar The Witchwood, I have plenty of great memories here and it’s home away from home, I often see a familiar face when I visit.
