Goth Fashion in Manchester – I Shot a Zombie

When the zombies win

Vicky Jaz Lawrence AKA Zombie Queen and I collaborate on Goth Fashion in a Manchester indoor car park.

Paired with green smoke grenades and Marilyn Manson-themed bikini tops, Zombie Queen goes above and beyond to get the job done.

I meet Vicky at one of my favourite pubs in Manchester, Grand Central. Located in the centre of Oxford road, right outside of the train station. Amazingly, Grand Central, despite its city centre location, has been home to bikers, rockers, goths and metal heads alike for years. If you want to loudly drink a pint whilst swinging your head around, there’s no better place.

Trigger discipline

Firstly, we start the shoot, and the goddamn trigger on my camera isn’t working. I have a plan, a fucked up method for getting it to flash for me. Secondly, my idea is to open my camera’s internal flash so that the Speedlight picks it up and snaps when required. Amazingly, it works! Conclusively, whilst successful, it doesn’t trigger every time.

I can’t take the time I need to get the shots I want. We only have a limited amount of smoke bombs. Every shot matters. One in every 5/6 shots I’m taking is triggering the flash.

Playing some old-school industrial rave music, drinking some cheap beers and classically fucking around, we put the work in for some dope shots. Fortunately, the ones we are left with are really fun and s p o o k y.

Goth Fashion Manchester

There are future plans to work with more goth fashion in Manchester whilst I am here. Gothic-themed shoots with smoke grenades are in the near future, so watch this space.

If you know somebody that would want to get involved, tell them to get in touch.
