Koko X Manchester

Koko’s first time

I met Koko (aka Kowther) at my part-time job at Overbridge Studio. She came in for a test shoot and I had to ask her to work with me on some street shots. When I met her she was throwing out her own original poses. Unlike the usual bore that relies on me for instruction, she just went for it. I’ve never worked with a model on location and Koko has never modelled professionally. So it was a learning experience for both of us.

Having a few hours to spend with a model instead of a few minutes was a breath of fresh air, I felt like I was able to capture a slice of Koko’s killer personality and her sense of style. Using a mix of lenses and a trusty Speedlight, Kowther’s friend Miriam helped assist on a number of shots. I’m really happy with how the images turned out and I hope to work with Koko again soon.

The back alley shots were taken behind Grand Central, the Camera shots in front of GMEX (Manchester Central) and the rooftop shots were atop of the NCP car park on Oxford Road. Miraculously, we weren’t chased away as we expected.
