FACTORY 21 – A Sweaty Mess

The late shift at Factory 21

I got a message from a photographer friend of mine. My friend asked if I could cover for her at Factory 21 for a few weeks whilst she has other stuff on. Happily, I obliged. I wasn’t making any money at Midnight on Friday otherwise. Surprisingly, I had never managed to take myself to Factory before. I had always assumed it was an upmarket club, I was probably turned off by the fee on the door.

My assumptions couldn’t have been further from the truth. Whilst I can carefully squint through my teenage eyes and see how cool the club would be to a horny drunk teenager. As an adult, it’s a hot mess. Literally a hot mess, everybody is slightly moist from the humidity. But that doesn’t matter, if you’re on your way to Factory, you probably have some white powders in your pocket and £80 assigned to buying some overpriced shots of sugary ethanol. You’re going to have a good time.

Variety is the spice of life

With three floors, each with different genres of music, it’s hard not to imagine having a decent night. The bottom floor is mainly popular dance numbers, the middle floor hosts indie/alternative tracks from the mid-00s and the top floor blasting some obscure underground big bass beats.
