Where do strays stay at night?
Walking around just outside of Valletta, there’s a small park in Floriana that has a make-shift shanty town just for cats. The Stray Cat Cafe (Cat Feeding Station and Shelter) is for the public to help out the local stray cats. We came across it when an old gentleman was feeding the small horde of felines.
Who looks after who?
Many people think that cats look after humans and provide a necessary function in our lives by pest control, companionship, protection from harm and even curative powers. But cats need looking after too. That seems to be the question at this small park in Floriana where The Stray Cat Cafe, a makeshift shanty town for homeless cats was established. With the help of donations from animal lovers, who take it upon themselves to feed and shelter these poor animals during the day.
The Feeding Station
It’s not uncommon to see a Maltese family with their pets outside, so it’s safe to say that Maltese citizens love their animals and want the best for them. Since Malta is such an enclosed country and with cat shelters being sparse around the island, this spot becomes a crucial resource. Not only are stray cats here but locals will come to get supplies for their own furry friends! Some locals even bring home strays in need of a new place.
